November yarnbombing

So today I decided that I would go and sit at my local Starbucks and sit and make all 21 of my yarnbombs. Well I finally did what I set out to do. All 21 are made and the need tags added to them and then the distribution can begin. I have done the hardest part of it all now. I think I am going to have to create a special page on my website for this particular event. I have considered doing clusters of them. There are three colors so maybe I will group them together.

I rather like the idea of participating in a, what I am assuming is a world wide event. Well I guess it is safe to assume because I know pixi knit is doing it and she is in England. And I am sure I saw something about it being done in Australia. So then it is! :)

I hope my hearts make people feel special. Love them and take the home and smile every time they see it.

21 Days to yarnbomb in November....

So when I was first invited to join I wasn't going to do it, but now I am rethinking it. I haven't done any yarnbombing in quite sometime. I feel like I should be doing some so people will smile, but I have been so incredibly lazy!!! UGH!! It always seems to win out! So here I am with less then 5 hours to go for the day...... Guess I should get crackin!

Whats next....

Well I had finally completed the yarnbombing for the 18th street arts center. I didnt get everything done that I wanted to do but I got most of it done. It was such a great experience and I had so much fun meeting new people and seeing what they came up with.

I took a few things down but left somethings there so that there would still be something there. I guess there was a memo sent out that I didnt see asking us artists to leave our things up but I did not see it until it was to late.

Now I have to find new homes for the things I took down. Most of which I have plans for!!! yay!!

I have a few other projects that I need to work on before I can get back to my yarnbombing activities!

More to come!

Santa Monica May 21, 2011

UPDATE:

Went to this months meeting alone. My partner in crime had a wedding to go to so she couldn't make it. BUUUTTT I did get a lot done in the past two months. So far I have the no parking sign/ 4x4 post/ white pole done. They are all right next to each other so I had to make it larger the farther down I went. The colors look awesome!!! I should have brought it so I could put it up, but oh well. I also finished the pole that goes diagonally down on the outside of the building where all my other poles are. It is a yarn that is variegated and goes from dark green to light green to white and starts all over again. I want it to look like ivy and not a pole which I think I accomplished well! YAY!!! :) So i have started on the pole people, which i ned to figure out how to give them arms. I could just have them laying straight down, which would make it way way easy but then where is the fun in not complicating my yarnbombing project even more!!! So after that I am going to work on the white pole that are connected to the no parking sign pole. And if i have time, a.k.a get off my lazy ass and start crocheting like there is no tomorrow (LOL "rapture"), then I will be able to get this all done! YAY!

I love going to the meetings and seeing what the others are working on. This one girl named Laura made a gigantic heart, a real looking one. It looks so great!! I am so excited for this to be done!!

Santa Monica :) YAY!!!

One day I found out about this yarnbombing event it Santa Monica, Ca. I am so so so super excited about it!! I went to the first meeting on February 19th. It was so great and so inspirational to be in such an artsy atmosphere! I loved being at the 18th street arts center. I went and picked out my spot I wanted. I saw a photo of all the areas that were up for grabs and I instantly fell in love with this section where there are some poles in front a building that prevent the building from being hit. Also, next to that there was a bunch of poles for gas meters and such. I am super super excited to do this. There are a great bunch of people whom are working on this whole project. So far I have about two feet done for a "no parking" sign pole.

I already have something that I want to put up that was donated to me from Ted Elliott who's wife Jan Elliott made sometime before she passed away earlier this year. This will be a tribute to her. I can't wait for the next meeting. I really need to get working on these things so the will be ready for June.

Craft on my crafty friends!!

Whims are great!!!

On a whim I decided to drive to San Diego this weekend and visit a friend. She wanted to take me to her favorite beach called Sunset Cliff's, and since I was going to be there I decided to make something. It is small but its still there. :)

Camping and jeeping and yarnbombing... oh my!

This past weekend I went camping with a friend and my sister. We had so much fun. While we were out jeeping around the desert I made a yarnbomb. Nothing to spectacular but I thought it would be nice to leave my mark at the beginning of the trail. Purple and white were the colors t his weekend, as I also yarnbombed or camp spot. I am not sure how long that one will be up because there are camp hosts that sit there and make sure everything is back to normal when everyone else has left the camp area.

Work yarnbomb

So while I was working on all of my gifts for Christmas I was making a blue and white scarf and hat set. The hat was done but after working on the scarf for a while I had noticed that I missed a stitch way back when. Since it was stripped I couldn't just pull it out and fix it. Hence it became my latest yarnbomb. I told my boss at work that I was going to do it and he said ok. It's about a story and a half up in the air on a water pipe. :)

Something shall come eventually

I put my yarnbomb making on the back burner for the holidays. I made 3 scarf and hat sets in about a week and a few days. I was A LOT of work, but everyone loved their gifts so it was WELL worth it!! :) I am trying to decide what colors I want to do next. I think orange and blue, for my sister. She mentioned that one time.

I also want to make some clovers for St. Patrick's day and yarnbomb the local Irish pub! TEE HEE!

On a different not, someone had emailed me about what happened to my life saver yarnbomb. Thanks for letting me know!!!

Your name Cathy

Enter your message Hi - Just to let you know, your Lifesaver yarn bomb at the corner of Ransom and Chicago was cut off by city employees. My husband saw them in them in the act. :-( Drove a friend from out of town around to see your creations. Love the turkey!!
